Our Philosophy
At Northland Heights, keeping residents active, connected, and engaged isn’t a program, as it’s an integral part of the community. On any given morning, you might find residents tending to flowers in the activities room, competing in a game of Team Trivia, or catching up over coffee. By evening, enjoying engaging activities and socializing with friends outside.
Our calendar runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, curated by our dedicated Recreation Director with heavy input from residents themselves. All activity spaces are conveniently located, making every venue easy to reach and easy to enjoy.
Whether your loved one wants a quiet afternoon in the library, a competitive round of Bingo, or a late-night activity through our Night Owl calendar, the choice is always theirs, as there is an activity for everyone.
Our Offering
Our 24/7 activities schedule is built around one simple idea: there should always be something for everyone. In addition to daily programming in our community rooms and activity spaces, residents enjoy events on the patio, outings across Pittsburgh, and a dedicated Night Owl calendar for those who keep later hours. The result is an energetic, inclusive environment where every resident feels at home. Some highlights include:
From morning Exercise and Chair Yoga to Strength and Balance classes several times a week, residents stay active every day at their own pace
From Mexican Train Dominoes, Yahtzee, and Pokeeno to Bowling, Cornhole, Horseshoes, and Ladder Ball, our games calendar keeps things lively and competitive, all at whatever level residents enjoy.
Residents enjoy regular live performances, including Happy Hour with Ray & Laura and Monthly Birthday Parties with music by Mikey Dee, bringing the whole community together to celebrate.
We welcome and honor every faith tradition, with weekly Bible Study, Rosary, Catholic Services,
Resident Council, Busy Bee Meeting, and seasonal celebrations like the Strawberry Festival, Porch and Punch, and Sundaes on Sunday are shaped by the people who live here, because this is their community.
Poetry Club, Art History, and guest speakers on topics like Alzheimer’s awareness keep residents mentally engaged and intellectually curious.
What’s Happening This Month
At Northland Heights, there is always something happening, from morning fitness classes and afternoon socials to late-night programming on our Night Owl calendar. No two days look the same, and no resident is left without something to look forward to.
Our activity calendars are updated every month and available to download below. We encourage families to look them over before visits as there’s always something worth joining.
